iNED Forum - The State of the Market

16:00 - 17:30
The Old Library, Lloyd's, One Lime Street, London, EC3M 7HA

The annual “State of the Market” Forum brings together three leading Market figures and is always one of our most popular iNED events. As it can be a challenge for NEDs who are not working day to day in an executive role to stay abreast of market developments, the assessment of these three industry leaders as to where we are as we approach the January renewal season is sure to be of considerable interest. We face the challenges of geopolitical instability, including the continuing conflict in Ukraine, the impact of changing weather patterns on nat cat losses, as well as macroeconomic uncertainties as Central Banks look to bring inflation under control whilst avoiding precipitating a global recession.

As always, we have asked our speakers Julie Page, John Neal and George Netherton to interpret their brief widely to embrace whatever developments they believe may significantly impact and shape the London market in the near to medium term. These could include: the impact of the initiatives under way to improve the market’s competitiveness; the opportunities and challenges associated with Generative AI; positioning market participants for the net zero journey; bringing new products to market that are more relevant to customers’ needs; approaches to managing geopolitical volatility; and shifting the market’s culture to become more inclusive and diverse.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

Identify the key issues and challenges confronting London Market participants for 2024 and beyond as reflected in the views of the three industry leaders.

Describe the progress being made by London Market participants  on improving underwriting results, reducing operating costs and enhancing the market’s competitiveness.

Explain the progress being made in market modernisation and other initiatives to improve market access.

Summarise the current trading environment and challenges we face as we head into 2024.
