Property & Casualty insurers face multiple challenges from global warming and navigating the transition to net zero. Changing weather patterns are already driving more frequent and different forms of nat cat activity whilst potential new underwriting exposures are opening up in the casualty classes. As a key enabler of all economic activity, the industry has also been targeted by climate activists regarding the coverage extended to carbon intensive businesses. Regulators are actively involved as they seek to ensure the industry is able to remain financially sound as it undertakes the net zero transition journey.
In this Forum our speakers will address different aspects of these multiple challenges from the perspective of the Board. Graham Handy, Partner and Head of Insurance Advisory and Actuarial, and Adam Soilleux, Associate Director, at BDO will set out the latest expectations of regulators, focusing on the PRA, FCA and FRC. Rebekah Clement, Corporate Affairs Director at Lloyd’s, will set out the Corporation’s perspective and the implications for the Boards of market participants. Our final speaker, Anthony Bice, Partner in Oliver Wyman’s Insurance and Asset Management Practice, will address how insurers are setting their underwriting strategies in the face of the climate challenge.
